Canoeing

Travel the same routes that Creek Indians used for travel and trade on the Flint River or the Chattahoochee River. The Thunder Scout Reservation Staff offers trips from the beginner to the pro. We can provide you with all you need for your group from a day long adventure or a multi-day program including a 50 miler program to satisfy the needs of any canoe enthusiast.


Where: Gerald I. Lawhorn Scouting Base

When: This is a year round program. 

Who: Church groups, Schools, Businesses, Youth groups, Scouts groups. Ages 11-18 Years and adults.

Adult to Scout Ratio: Minimum 2 adults.

Programs Available : Merit Badge Training

Trips Available:

  • One Day Canoe Trips (2 ½ - 15 Miles) 
  • Multi-Day Canoe Trip with one night of camping on the river (17 - 23 ½ Miles)
  • Multi-Day Canoe Trip with two night of camping on the river (37 Miles)
  • 50 Mile Trip
